This is the Dow Chemical Companies commercial about the human element. You guys have probably seen this commercial, and were most likely pretty moved by it. Too bad Dow Chemicals is responsible for the Bhopan disaster and the death of at least 8,000 people in India.
If chemicals are all over the floor, then yes, you might want to watch your step.
This is a beautifully made advertisement which demonstrates the wonders of nature and the impotance of the human race. However, I have absolutely no idea what it has to do with a company which manufactures plastics and chemicals. I have seen this ad on television many times, but if it wasn't for Steven I still wouldn't know what Dow is or does.
I think the commercial was very nice because it showed nature and that humans are important in the world. I had no idea what kind of company DOW was. Now I know this company makes deadly commercials that are used to kill people. I think that people that don't know about DOW and see this commercial would be convince that they are a nice company.
It was a feel good commercial that makes you one with nature. It opens your eyes up to the beauties that the world has to offer. What a chemical company has to do with that... I don't know. It definitely left me thinking that it was an earth friendly company working on enhancing the environment. They did a great job at diverting my attention from the company’s real ventures, but never the less I enjoyed the commercial and the scenic tour it brought me on.
This commercial had a very zen like feel to it. It was relaxing and kind of inspiring, I liked that, but like everyone else, I had no idea what this commercial was really for until steve told me.
This commercial was very pleasant one to watch. It created a nice atmosphere using the many wonders of nature and people in general. Personally, I didn't know what this commercial was about until Steven told the class. Its odd that they use such calming, beautiful images to a company that kills humans and nature.
I have seen this advertisement many times on T.V. and it always made me feel good. This ad showed beautiful pictures of waterfalls, deserts, volcanoes, just beautiful pictures of nature. While watching this ad I felt that our world is such a beautiful place with beautiful people, and we should cherish it. At the end of commercial, the letters “DOW” appear and from the feeling images in the commercial, I assumed that this company dealt with “green issues” and trying to making the world more “green.” However this company isn’t what I thought it was. Stephen told the class the truth about the company; it was actually a company who produced chemicals and plastics. I was shocking but nonetheless, the commercial was a very good one in associating good feeling with a particular company (before knowing the company).
The commercial uses the vivid imagery of beautiful scenery to encapsulate the viewer’s attention. The commercial is very inspiring and the narrative voice is very strong and assuring. However, this commercial is not meant to advertise a product it is only to reintroduce a company. Dow was once a chemical weapons company, among other things. Now the company is trying to sell itself as a company for the betterment of human kind, and this commercial is just one of the ways it is doing so. The commercial creates a sense of peace in the viewer, it creates a sense of trust in the viewer and it makes the viewer say to him or herself that whoever put out this ad must really care about the world. This was the goal of the commercial and in my opinion it worked, surely convinced me.
